PROMATECT\u00ae-100<\/strong><\/p><p>The fire resistance of a building element is the time during which this element fulfills its load-bearing function in case of fire. Firstly, reference is made here to exposure to the traditional cellulosic fire according to ISO 834, which is the basis of all European fire resistance test methods and which is considered a reference for traditional fires in houses, offices, hotels, etc.<\/p><p>Protection techniques have always been available on the market. The correct method is to apply a protective product on the supporting structure. Depending on the situation you can choose between a box consisting of fireproof panels, a projection with a fireproof mortar or a layer of fireproof paint.<\/p><p>This class of standards describes fire tests on a number of conventional test items, from which the required protection thickness for a specific fire resistance for a group of elements is determined, for a specifc group of construction elements (concrete slabs, metal constructions and others).<\/p><p>The results of these tests are included in an evaluation report, which is drawn up by an institution, generally European, in table format. The Belgian institutions are the laboratory of the University of Liege or Warringtonfiregent. The I.S.I.B. (Fire Safety Institute \u2013 located in Li\u00e8ge and Ghent) can also write national technical opinions, which are valid in Belgium only. The protection thickness for fire resistance 30 \/ R 60 \/ R 90 \/ R 120 is determined by profile as a function of the critical steel temperature (\u00b0 C) and the mass factor (m-1).
